The Unofficial Survivors Guide To The US OPEN 2018
The Us Open is back this year and we have the inside scoop to help you enjoy the most out of the festivities. From free games to food and everything in between, we did all the homework for you.
- STOPOVER AT THE OUTER COURTS
Tennis fanatics have often dreamt of sitting courtside in Arthur Ashe Stadium. However, there are 16 other courts each hosting plenty of fast-paced matches that should not be missed. Best thing is, there is no reserved seating!
- TICKETS PLEASE
The best way to make the most of your U.S. Open experience is to purchase an Ashe day session ticket but it’s not the only way. The Ashe day session tickets allow you to get into all of the courts throughout the day and night sessions, with additional access to Ashe Stadium matches during the day. Fair warning: Ashe Stadium evening session matches will require an Ashe night pass.
- BUY A NIGHT SEAT
U.S. Open evening matches are one of the more exciting and enchanting sports experiences out there. If you do plan to splurge on a ticketed seat, we recommend doing so for an Ashe evening session around the 3rd or 4th day of play when matches become more competitive.
- DON’T SKIP PRACTICE
They say practice makes perfect, and with over 1,000 bleacher seats in the newly remodeled practice court area, you’ll be able to see plenty of famous faces work on their forehand and backhand slices up close.
- THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE FREE
Take advantage of these free events open to the public during the tournament schedule.
- The qualifying tournament is hosted the week before the main tournament begins.
- Families can enjoy the free Arthur Ashe Kid’s Day complete with a stadium show.
- One of the best-kept secrets includes the opportunity to see top players practice the day before the main tournament begins with free access to the U.S. Open grounds. View the schedule of practice sessions.
- Community Day at the US Open is always Thursday of the second week and allows grounds access as well as access to many doubles matches.
- THERE’S AN APP FOR THAT
Download the official US Open Everywhere App for the latest schedule, scores and live updates. With this, you’ll be able to plan ahead and be the first in line for the matches you really want to see up close.
- BRING YOUR APPETITE
Dining at the U.S. Open goes far beyond your traditional concession stand popcorn and hot dogs. Top chefs have developed Chic Street fair and craft cocktails specifically for this event. Soft-Shell-Crab-Bocadillos and Madrid Mules anyone?
- LATHER UP
While fall might be making her entrance, summer is still at a center stage in late-August/early September. Remember to pack additional sunscreen, bring your Legends Limousine umbrella, and hydrate with plenty of water.
- THE NEXT GENERATION
Remember to watch the top players in the boys’ and girls’ tournaments as well. One day soon they’ll be serving and volleying in Ashe Stadium alongside the legends, and you can say you knew them when.
BONUS: THE REAL SHOWSTOPPER
During those evening session moments of pause when a ball is out of play, a line judge is being questioned, or a match is in turnover, steal a moment and head to the top of Ashe Stadium to watch the sunset behind the Manhattan skyline. It’s a truly unique view of your host City.
